Christmas doesn’t seems to be the same for me as what it was 18 years back. All these years i have not know the meaning of Christmas, and i didn’t really experience the spirit of Christmas, Christmas always seem to be the same as every normal day, except with some present, decoration, party, food and shopping. That’s why Christmas was never special for me at all, i spend most of my time at home, watching tv or facing the computer.
However starting from last year (2006), I started to ask myself “why does people enjoy Christmas so much ? I want to experience it too.” Hence I plan to do something me and my friend haven do before, we then decided to have BBQ, but that was too last minute, all of the chicken wing had been sold out, then we went for “turkey hunt” finding cheap turkey to eat (because we haven taste a turkey before) but we end up with nothing. Although we didn’t have turkey, but we still had fun spending time together, and plan to do the same for next year (2007) Christmas until we are able to taste turkey.
This year (2007) Christmas is really very different and wonderful for me, I now understood the real meaning of Christmas, it is not about money, present, decoration, food, party, shopping or carol. Christmas is all about Jesus Christ, it is a day to remember the Greatest Gift that God gave to mankind. Well i accepted this Great Gift this year and i really felt the peace and joy in my heart. This year i went for more shopping, carol, party and even receive more present than the previous Christmas, but all of these could not satisfied me and would be meaningless if Christ isn’t in my heart. Well I am glad that my Bro (Ooi Tong) had accepted this Great Gift as well, and will continue to grow and learn more about Jesus.
